Episode 45

[5:08] HOW DID YOUR FIRST BUSINESS, OPAL ELEMENTS COSMIC APOTHECARY, LEAD YOU TO WHERE YOU ARE TODAY?

Jules opened her first shop of herbal, aromatherapy, and skincare products when she was finishing her herbalism apprenticeship. She soon realized she didn’t have the “behind-the-scenes” business knowledge necessary to fully actualize her vision, so she gradually began to immerse herself into the small business world.

Over the years, Jules learned many of the necessary ins and outs of running any business and now gives back to fellow herbalists and healers to help them bring their offerings into the world.

[13:17] WHAT DOES YOUR BUSINESS LOOK LIKE TODAY?

Jules’ current main offering in her business are her Alchemy Mentorships: 6-month long one-on-one coaching containers that integrate business, life, and health coaching alongside herbalism teachings. These mentorships are broken up elementally (earth, water, fire, air, and ether) and into modules. Jules appreciates that this work allows her to work with people in different facets of their lives.

[17:33] WHAT IS ALCHEMY?

Alchemy is a system of healing, rooted in magic, in which the practitioner transmutes energy from trauma into deep understanding and inner-knowing.

[27:00] WHAT SORT OF ROADBLOCKS DO YOU SEE HEALERS STRUGGLE WITH IN THEIR BUSINESS JOURNEY?

Jules notes that many healers struggle with self-worth and fear that they’re not “good enough” to put their offerings out into the world, especially on social media. She also notices that many people in the healing spaces don’t know or care to know the technical side of running a business, such as email marketing and web design.

[30:36] WHAT IS INNER CHILD WORK?

Inner child work is rooted in Gestalt principles and can be done with a coach/therapist or on your own. It is a way of creating a dialogue between your current self and a younger version of yourself and often involves returning to a challenging/painful moment in the past to surface parts of the self that have gone unheard or unattended. Jules likens it to self-parenting.

[37:30] WHERE DO YOU SEE FEAR COMING UP IN THE HEALER ENTREPRENEURIAL COMMUNITY?

Jules notes that many people she works with are deeply afraid of failure and live with a powerful scarcity mentality when it comes to their livelihoods and craft. She encourages her clients to befriend and name their fears in order to unearth the lessons they may present.

[45:46] WHAT ARE WAYS THAT EVERYONE CAN USE SOCIAL MEDIA TO EDUCATE THEIR COMMUNITY ON THEIR OFFERINGS?

Jules points out that many people in the entrepreneurial world fear they’ll “run out” of content or information to offer if they share too frequently on social media. She notes that this is inaccurate and a way that fear works against creativity and expansion. She encourages listeners not to overthink the process and to simply share what excites them at the early stages of their business journey—the cohesive strategy will follow.
